Valentine Cookies

Grace and Maddie had fun decorating cookies for Daddy before he came home on Valentine's Day. They iced and decorated completely by themselves and the cookies turned out so pretty!

More Snow Day Fun!!!

Last Monday we had yet another snow day and so I called up my good friend and neighbor across the street, Tina to come over and hang out. She goes just as nutso as I do during all these cancellations we have...she has four kids all the same exact age as mine, only she has twins! The kids have played together and grown up together since we've lived here. It's been so nice having a friend across the street who you can call on a whim to have the kids play or to watch each others kids so we can run errands or to just borrow an egg or whatever. I am really blessed to have someone to hang out with so close by...in the summertime we are out playing in their yard or ours, pretty much all day long. So on Monday, they came over to play while us mommies drank some coffee and chatted...the kids wanted to play dress up and they all looked so cute, only Thys didn't really have anything to put on as the boy of the house. Anyways...here are the pics of the kids and each of them are standing with the friend who is their same age!

Faith turns 2!!!

Ok, so the first picture on here is just adorable right? Lol. Faith woke up from her nap before her birthday party a total grump! Luckily she warmed up after a bit, but not before Daddy could capture some beautiful pictures of the girls to remember this special day by! I picked this one because out of four pictures this is actually the best! :) At least Grace and Maddie are doing the cheesy smile thing and not the I want to get off this stool look that Faith is sporting. We celebrated Faith's birthday the Saturday before...she actually turned 2 on Feb 12th. It was an Elmo themed party as she loves all things Elmo, and we had all of Quinn's family over for sledding, dinner and cake. It was a cold, snowy day and so we had a big pot of chili with tortilla chips and sour cream to go with, homemade mac n cheese, weggies and dip, finger jello and of course, chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream! I got lots of nice comments on the cake, which I LOVE doing for the girls and overall I think he turned out pretty darn cute...probably one of my favorites I've done - although the frosting was giving me lots of hassles the night before! I have a video to post of us singing to Faith, but I'll have to ask my hubby to help me another time...can't figure it out right now!

Party Fun

The only one I want to comment on is the picture of me...I like to call it the "Frank Hennacy" smile - Lol!!! It just made me laugh and reminded me so much of that dorky fake smile her would smile when he was being a little patronizing...like "Oh, ok dear - (like I give a rip)" Hee Hee...I know my family members can relate to that one!!!

Another Snow day!

The week of Feb 1st brought 2-3 more snow days for us! Quinn and I had put the girls' matresses on the floor for a sister slumber party and they ended up staying that way for all three days! Their room was trashed by the time we put them back, but they had so much fun. One day I let them play Barbies on the beds while I put a small tv/vcr in their room and they watched a Barbie as Princess and the Pauper movie whiled they played. The next pic was of Grace taking a nap on her bed, but not before setting up her dolls and animals with their own books to keep them busy...I didn't know she had done it until I went in to check on her and i just had to take a picture! Then on another snow day I invited a neighbor friend from church over to play with the girls and they had a blast playing outside in the snow!

Lollipop Symphony - Peter and the Wolf

At the end of January, we took the kids to see the Grand Rapids Symphony do a Lollipop concert for kids of Peter and the Wolf. The Grand Rapids Ballet Company danced and it was such a fun hour of music and dancing for all of us to enjoy! The tickets are only $5 each and the kids get to see how an orchestra plays together and the dancers with their fun costumes...at the end everybody gets a special treat on their way out...a lollipop of course! We took our good friend Ainsley with us...even Faith got really into it and was captivated almost the whole time. We didn't tell the girls what we were doing until we got there, we just called it a family date morning. Afterwards we went to Buffalo Wild Wings for lunch, just for Daddy's sake!! It really was a lot of fun to spend a Saturday morning together as a family!

Miscellaneous January Pics 2008

Here are some of the pics I took in early January...hilarious hair day at school for Maddie, Faith got a big girl Toddler bed and did great - she fell asleep one day with her arm snuggling her dolly, Grace and her friend Lydia after they got off the bus one snowy school day, and our house after one of our big snows...little did we imagine there would be many more to come!

New Years Eve

The last couple of years, we have started a tradition of having family night on New Year's Eve. We have finger foods and eat downstairs while we watch a movie together or play board games. The kids love it and we truly enjoy being with them as a family...no having to worry about going out or getting a sitter...just fun family time together. This year we had little smokies, veggies and dip, shrimp cocktail, fresh pineapple, sparkling juice, pickles, crackers and spinach dip for our little feast. We did watch a movie, but my brain is so far gone into this pregnancy I couldn't tell you which one!
