In full costume and stage makeup. Dad was a little iffy on the makeup part, but it's over now!
Well, mother's day is here again, and being the techie nerd that I am, I thought I'd write a quick bit about the women in my life that are moms.
My mom (Anita Denning):
Mom, thank you for being an example of a godly woman. I appreciate you putting up with me as a kid-- even when I pushed your buttons! I know you pray for me & my family regularly, and I appreciate that immensely. I appreciate how you pitched in and helped take care of the kids when Sam was sick recently. I appreciate how you serve others through your efforts at church and elsewhere as you help arrange meals for the elderly & ill. I just want you to know on this mother’s day, that I love you, and appreciate you! Happy Mother's Day Mom!
Your son,
Quinn
My wife (Samantha):
Sweetheart, thank you for your tireless work of childrearing. I know it's crazy at home sometimes, (ok, often) but you always keep going. I appreciate your patience lately as the kids were sick, and your schedule fell apart, but you pressed on, and got through it. I appreciate your desire to make our home a haven for me & the kids-- it is. I know you feel at times like your life is not your own, and your right, to be a mom means putting others needs ahead of yours everyday-- thank you. Our kids look up to you and love you more than you know-- I see the way they look at you and call out to you. I'm so proud you are the mother of my kids, and I'm so blessed to have a wife who has a heart to serve others. I love you, happy mother’s day!!
My mother-in-law (Heidi Turner):
Heidi, all mother in law jokes aside, I am proud you are my mother in law. You've done a great job of raising your daughters and now you’re a wonderful grandma. I know you wish you lived closer to the kids, but they know you, and love you. Going to see nana Heidi (& papa Wes) is always something special for them. I appreciate your consistent prayer for me & my family as well, and I also appreciate your loving admonition at times. You too are a godly example of a woman, and I am truly blessed to be your son in law. I love you, and happy mother's day!!
My grandmother (Dottie Denning):
Grandma, I know I don't see you enough, and it bugs me constantly. I love you, and think of you more than you know. It's still a special time when I get to see my grandma. I love you, and happy Mother's Day.
I have been abundantly blessed to have these women in my life. They all have helped mold and shape me into the person I am today. I love, respect, and appreciate them more than I get to say in the normal zoo that is life. I think the following passage from God's word in the book of Proverbs describes them well:
Proverbs 31:10-31 NASB
10An (M)excellent wife, who can find?
For her worth is far (N)above jewels.
11The heart of her husband trusts in her,
And he will have no lack of gain.
12She does him good and not evil
All the days of her life.
13She looks for wool and flax
And works with her hands in delight.
14She is like (O)merchant ships;
She brings her food from afar.
15She (P)rises also while it is still night
And (Q)gives food to her household
And portions to her maidens.
16She considers a field and buys it;
From her earnings she plants a vineyard.
17She (R)girds herself with strength
And makes her arms strong.
18She senses that her gain is good;
Her lamp does not go out at night.
19She stretches out her hands to the distaff,
And her hands grasp the spindle.
20She (S)extends her hand to the poor,
And she stretches out her hands to the needy.
21She is not afraid of the snow for her household,
For all her household are (T)clothed with scarlet.
22She makes (U)coverings for herself;
Her clothing is (V)fine linen and (W)purple.
23Her husband is known (X)in the gates,
When he sits among the elders of the land.
24She makes (Y)linen garments and sells them,
And supplies belts to the tradesmen.
25Strength and (Z)dignity are her clothing,
And she smiles at the future.
26She (AA)opens her mouth in wisdom,
And the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.
27She looks well to the ways of her household,
And does not eat the (AB)bread of idleness.
28Her children rise up and bless her;
Her husband also, and he praises her, saying:
29"Many daughters have done nobly,
But you excel them all."
30Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain,
But a woman who (AC)fears the LORD, she shall be praised.
31Give her the product of her hands,
And let her works praise her in the gates.
Thank you Mom, Grandma, Samantha, and Heidi for your love, may God bless you as you have blessed so many. Happy Mother's Day!
Love, Quinn
